The EB-3 visa (Employment-Based Third Preference) is an immigrant visa category in the United States that enables foreign nationals to become lawful permanent residents (Green Card holders) through a sponsoring U.S. employer. Approximately 40,000 EB-3 visas every year are granted with about 10,000 specifically allocated to unskilled workers. To initiate the process, the employer typically obtains a PERM Labor Certification from the Department of Labor, then files Form I-140 (Immigrant Petition for Alien Worker) with USCIS.

Once the I-140 is approved, applicants either pursue Adjustment of Status if already in the U.S. or undergo consular processing at a U.S. embassy or consulate if living abroad. 

Upon completion, they receive their Green Cards and may eventually apply for U.S. citizenship, provided they meet the relevant criteria.
